My Blog

When I was at the age of eleven, a disaster struck my life turning it 180 degrees around, a simple happening, we moved. For reasons I do not feel to share, I had to move to a new surrounding, a new home, a new school, and a new family. At the time, the transitioning was too hard to cope with, having to adjust and acclimate into a new life was certainly a difficult occurence. The drive from my old home to the new was as vivid as a nightmare that had happened. Feelings of regret and sadness fill in to my head that shook me to my core. Crying and screaming my lungs out, no doubt this was a move that has become a negative turning point in my life. When I started to enter the city of new home, it was as green as one would imagine paradise would look like. It was a moment where I felt that a clean start would turn my life around for the better, however, it was still not the case, these feelings still flooded my body, it was a matter of time until everything changed. Time, the one variable that gave this wretched happening a clear direction of where it was going, at least in my life. As time passed by, it had come to my attention that this was for the best, that all that had happened was written down and had to become true. The greenery did truly have that sense of tranquility. Now that I study at a university that was near my old home, I developed this propensity to remember the drive from the old to the new and vice versa because everything was supposed to fall into place to continue and push forward with my life. This occurence in my life connects to Piaget's "Constructivism", due to the indirect way of teaching a lesson of acceptance, by way of interacting in a difficult situation.

V&A

The V&A museum was certainly one of the big highlights of yesterday's class trip. When I entered the entrance of the museum, a thought crossed my mind that it was going to be just another museum, however it was not the case. I received a headphone set, and instructions to proceed forward to the exhibition with the headphones on. As I entered into the exhibition, I noticed nobody was talking, only listening to their headsets. Each zone you are in changes the music you hear depending on its zone which creates a sense of belonging to the zone and makes it relatable. It creates an easily accessible barrier to what is appeared during the span time of 1960 to 2000s, compelling you to imagine and rethink past times of music, film, and other major events that occurred. Papert's notion of external media assisting us in our exploration is well shown in this exhibition. This set was certainly an explorable experience with media aides creating the mind's experiential learning process more efficiently equipped for the exploration. I would like to emphasize on the media used with sound because creating such an aide to explore the past is quite easier that just reading the same information off a textbook.
